CUSTOMER ISSUE
A leading Canadian EFAP (Employee and Family Assistance Provider) company needed to create and maintain an online resource of
healthcare related materials, available to thousands of eligible people nationally through a strategic partnership. With the integrated
Web solution, eligible people would be able to store personal health information, take part in an interactive health risk assessment,
access a comprehensive library of medical information written by medical experts, and even create a personal health improvement
program. System and data security was also of eminent importance as this organization is bound by the personal information and
privacy (PIPEDA) legislation.
PROJECT DELIVERABLES
Requirements Capture and Analysis
- Collaborated with the strategic partner to define the business and functional requirements for the online assessment
solution
- Created screen mockups and built a prototype of the assessment solution to validate the requirements. Conducted a
number of partner reviews to refine the requirements
- Conducted structured interviews to get insight into how the intended system would be used. Developed usability
requirements that became part of the acceptance test process
Technical Design
- Used industry proven story-boarding techniques, such as interface-flow diagramming, windows navigation diagramming,
and context-navigation mapping to ensure the design of a friendly and usable User Interface (UI)
- Used White-Labeling techniques to design a seamless integration mechanism of the Web services portal with the partner
Web site
- Designed a flexible application architecture that allowed the integration of multiple assessment packages from various
providers into a unified system
- Designed a database model for storing personal and family health information for secure and confidential access anytime
from anywhere
- Enhanced the system design to ensure that it was fully compliant to the privacy requirements by selectively eliminating
the collection of private information and by masking non-personal information that could identify individuals in small
groups or workplaces
Software Development and System Integration
- Implemented and deployed a series of interactive health risk assessments to evaluate hidden health risks and create
personal health profiles
- Implemented and deployed a number of interactive on-line learning courses to deliver video, audio, and text to a variety
of computer platforms
- Performed an end to end integration and acceptance testing of a customer Web services portal. The acceptance testing
was based on the customer criteria for high availability, information privacy, and system performance
Project Management
- Collaborated with the strategic partner to define the scope of the Web Services Portal. Created a project scope document
and provided work and resource estimates
- Proactively managed the development and product release schedules of the online assessment suppliers to ensure that the
partner's deadlines would be met
- Created and managed to a partner facing project plan and development schedule. The plan included the dependencies
and deliverables of the online assessment suppliers
- Identified risks and risk management strategies to ensure that integrity of the complex integration project. Defined issues
escalation procedures across multiple component providers
